Home planting app first ideas

We discussed out app the other night and here I've written up the main features the app would have.

# Plant type suggestions

- Place your phone down on a surface where you want to plant
- Point the top of the phone towards the closest natural light source (use compass to determine what kind of light comes through there, sunrise, sunset, no sun etc)
- Now walk with your phone to the window/light source (determines proximity of the light source and using ambient light sensor can tell how bright it is)
- The app should also take in to account the seasonality, local climate and plan availability.
- Recommend plants to use here

# Plant location suggestions

- The user has a plant but they want to know where they should plant it.
- Input the type of plant.
- Description of the environment should display on screen i.e.: ‘low light conditions in a dry place’.
- The user should then be prompted to use their phone to check whether the area is going to work well using the phones sensors.

# Ongoing app functionality

- Push notifications for watering reminders. Based on the type of plant, the light exposure and geo-fencing the persons house for clever reminders.
- Plant combination advice? Maybe a certain flower looks nice beside another plant?
- Tips on how to care for the plant. How much of a herb you should use at one time etc.
